What if there was a “NO HAGGLE” real estate brand, like CARMAX for cars?

You drive by it everyday on your way to the office. That big blue and yellow sign that says CARMAX on it. Loaded with hundreds of cars, anything you want is on their lot. And, if it’s not, you can shop online and they will send the car you want from any of their other lots in the United States to your front door. If that wasn’t cool enough, they will buy your car(online offer in 2 minutes), even if you don’t buy one of theirs. You can test-drive their cars for 24 hours, and they also offer a 30 day return policy up to 1,500 miles. Need an auto loan, they do that too! If all of that wasn’t cool enough, they have a low price “NO HAGGLE” business model that ensures that you are getting a fair price that’s lower than the Kelley Blue Book. Their policy is intended to simplify the process for people who don't want to spend hours at a traditional dealership dickering over prices.
So, like the real estate industry, why don’t we refer to CARMAX as a “Discount Car Company” since they sell cars cheaper than the Kelley Blue Book? Why don’t we frown upon TJMAX, who’s ranked 85th on the Fortune 500 List, for selling quality brands lower than the standard retail price? What about Family Dollar(Acquired by Dollar Tree)? A “Discount Retailer” that’s worth more than COMPASS, Keller Williams, OfferPad, Opendoor, Redfin, RE/MAX, etc… Shouldn't we discourage people from buying from them for selling products cheaper than more traditional retail brands? Right?!
So, I have a question for you….. Is it hypocritical for a REALTOR? to refuse to lower their commission for a buyer or seller, but shop at CARMAX, Family Dollar, Marshall’s, TJMAXX, or Walmart? I think that’s a fair question. Who doesn’t want the best product and/or services, at a fair price? So, do all REALTORS? pay the premium price for products and services, as they expect consumers to pay them?
CARMAX offers everything and more than their traditional competitors. Buy cars, Sell cars, 24 hour test drive, 30 day return policy(up to 1,500 miles), a 90 day or 4,000 mile warranty, deliver your new car to your home, a finance company, and much more. And, they sell their cars lower than the Blue Book! Does that mean that they buy their cars smarter than their competitors and pass the savings on to their customers? Could that possibly be it? Is it their technology that makes them more efficient, and empowers consumers by providing offers for their car within 2 minutes or less?
The reality is, people are smarter and more technical than ever before. The average consumer hates negotiating! People simply want the best service, at a fair price. Don’t give me subpar service, at max price! Unfortunately, most REALTORS? provide subpar service, at max price! Like CARMAX, make me feel like I’m getting awesome service, viable options, and the feeling that you are not trying to gouge me on price.
When it comes to real estate, DOSS is very similar to CARMAX! Great service, at a fair price… In comparison to traditional brokers, DOSS offers more for less. However, in the pursuit of preserving itself, the real estate industry has fabricated and mobilized a self servicing industry-wide agenda to keep real estate commissions strategically the same price they’ve been since the industry was formally organized in 1908(113 years ago). Ignoring all of the technological advancements and the fact that the largest, most educated, and diverse generation(Millennials) in history is the largest purchasers of homes in the United States… maybe a real estate brokerage, with a CARMAX method, model, and technology is exactly what the next-era of real estate should be. A brand that gives consumers upfront options and savings to select the best service(s) for themselves based on their experience and how much they want to be involved(or not) to successfully close their real estate transaction.
