What the hack!

What the hack!

Hello, Dearest Reader. Apologies about the pun in this week’s subject line – it’s a cheap trick to win your attention.

Speaking of cheap tricks, cyber criminals are full of them. Phishing, spoofing…you name it, they’ll try it – each one with enough potential to stop your business dead.

So what’s the answer? How do you protect yourself against the unknown? Well, if you want an extra layer of security with more stopping power than my support ship’s reverse thrusters, give this a go.

Get on with it, Capt. The meter’s running

Have you ever heard of MFA? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. It stands for Multi-Factor Authentication – an electronic authentication tool that’s worth its weight in Vulcan gold.

You probably use an MFA already when you log into your bank account – it’s that little code-generation computer thingy that’s ridiculously easy to lose (like the one in my video).

It means, if a hacker (like my evil twin, Kristian ??) cracks your password, they can’t gain access to your data without a second (and sometimes third) distinct authentication factor.

At Northstar HQ, we use Microsoft’s Authenticator app as an MFA for over 25 system logins. It’s available on Apple, Android and Windows, simple to use and easy to set up. If you care about your data, it’s an absolute no-brainer.

Okay, I’m in. What now?

If you have any questions about MFAs, comment below or email Christian@northstarit.co.uk and I’ll get straight back to you.

Until the next time (MFAs)??
