While I was searching for something on "Google search" results on a mobile phone, I noticed a spot, a lightning bolt next to some of the results.?
What it was? I searched again and got the answer that it stands for Google’s AMP Project.
It signifies the website is a part of Google’s AMP Project. It was developed in response to the mobile web being too slow.
The official statement from Google is that AMP was created “to dramatically improve the performance of the mobile web.â€
Well, thank you very much, Google!
What is AMP?
AMP stands for Accelerated Mobile Page. Simply put, it’s an HTML web page that is stripped down heavily to provide mobile users three things:
? Fast loading speeds
? More engaging content
? Improved user-experience
Originally, AMP was geared towards publishers. Admittedly, the majority of AMP content out there is created by those people, but businesses are now starting to latch on. That’s why we’re writing an introductory blog for you.
More and more businesses are converting pieces of content from their websites into AMP pages. It makes sense, especially if you have a lot of mobile traffic. If I’m accessing the internet from a mobile device, I want things to be as simple as possible.
