It's all about the people but how in-tune are you with your fellow humans?
Sustainable, thriving, high-performing cultures are all about understanding people. Obviously, I hear you cry, but how many of you are investing time to really understand what is going on? The only way you unlock the power of your people is by knowing what is really going on.
Creating trust, psychological safety, taking time to have meaningful conversations is our role as a leader and must be a priority. We of course must understand the health of our business operationally, top, and bottom-line results, our customers, are we achieving our targets and growth ambition, but in parallel, of equal importance, is what is going on with your people. The only way you will successfully navigate change, uncertainty, and building a sustainable business, fully embracing the future of work is through understanding what is going on for your people.
Be clear with your purpose, co-create strategies, be clear on goals and priorities, but also ensure that you really understand your culture and talent to enable your biggest impact. Taking time to health check your business to understand what is and is not working, proactively acting is fundamental but unless you connect hearts and minds in the process how will you continue to evolve, build a hybrid business that really does help your people and you to have high impact and thrive?
As an accredited GCologist I use powerful profiling tools such as GC Index? and The Change Maker Profile? to enable teams to uncover their innate strengths and proclivities. This knowledge helps you understand every single natural, innate energy in your people that can be utilised to benefit all. You can map your entire organisation’s proclivities to understand your natural talent landscape, have powerful conversations around what you have, what you need and get super clear on the action you need to take to cultivate impact and performance to thrive.
What is your organisational impact map?
Do you know what talent you have where and what the gap is? Understanding what innate proclivities, you have in your business opens up conversations about performance and whether you have the right people in the right place at the right time to make your vision a reality. This insight is incredibly helpful for workforce planning, allocating work, projects based on natural energies where each individual can be in flow and thrive. This is your competitive advantage.
You can see a simple view of your human assets in a way that enables you to tap into your assets, have great conversations about how people thrive, create a consistent language around natural energies as well as understand where your strengths are across the business and, most importantly, how you can tap into these strengths to understand how to optimise performance, contribution and impact creating a win-win for you, your people and business.
Armed with this insight you understand the power you have and get to know the people around you; you can skillfully apply it in any situation especially in change and transformation. The future of work is all about leading from any chair, fluidity of resources, mapping your resources to purpose and workflow with ease and at pace no matter where resources are.
Whether you are getting ready to implement a revised strategy, cultivating a new way of working, focused on achieving efficiency and effectiveness in hybrid working, or determined to engage resources in a cultural transformation you can leverage the energy to take full advantage of each other’s contribution and impact, a competitive advantage not to be missed.

3 年Really like this idea of fully leveraging and appreciating everyone in the organization, tapping into their talents and energies. It was one of the theses of Marcus Buckingham's First, Break All the Rules: Rather than trying to make everyone "well rounded," lean hard into each person's natural strengths, and create a team that, collectively, has all the skills and competencies the organization needs.
