If you had the chance to reshape work, what would you change? More flexibility? Stronger leadership? A workplace that actually invests in your growth?
If numbers can make you feel less alone on your professional situation, you should know that 92% of employees told us they'd quit their job for one with better flexibility. And that's just the beginning.
Work in 2025 is evolving fast, and AI isn't looming in the distance anymore, as right now it has become part of your every day workflow, your meetings, and maybe even your inbox. Degrees aren't the golden ticket they once were, as skills are taking center stage, and while some companies are still pushing return-to-office mandates, employees are making it clear: rigid workplaces won't cut it anymore.
At PowerToFly, we've been tracking these shifts through our What Talent Wants in 2025 report, gathering insights from over a thousand professionals on what they expect from the future of work. Here's what we've found:
?? AI it's a necessity: The best workplaces are integrating AI to enhance, not replace, human talent. Employees see where things are headed, and they're asking for upskilling opportunities to stay competitive.

?? Skills are the new currency: Employers are finally catching up, shifting hiring priorities from degrees to demonstrable abilities in AI, digital collaboration, and problem-solving. If companies want to keep top talent, they need to invest in learning opportunities fast.
?? Employees are feeling disconnected: Unlike the Great Resignation, where people actively left jobs, many professionals today feel stuck and disengaged. The result? A workforce that's staying put, but losing motivation. Leadership needs to step up and re-engage teams with meaningful work, clear career paths, and a culture of inclusion.
?? Flexibility is non-negotiable: Whether companies like it or not, hybrid and remote work are here to stay. Employees, especially caregivers and underrepresented groups, prioritize work environments that allow them to balance life and career. Ignore this, and you risk losing top talent to more adaptable competitors.
?? Mental health is a workplace issue, not a perk: Burnout is still a major concern in 2025. Employees want more than an occasional wellness stipend, they're looking for workplaces that prioritize well-being, workload balance, and emotional intelligence in leadership.
So, what does this mean for the future of work? The companies that embrace innovation without losing sight of their people will be the ones that thrive. The ones that don't? Well, they might find themselves on the wrong side of history. Check our full new blog entry clicking here to know more!
