What will be the future color and design trends?

Things have not been this colorful for a long time. Consumers’ color preferences are becoming much more diverse. That is what the pigment and masterbatch manufacturers are predicting for the near future. We asked some of them about current and future color and design trends. We also wanted to know whether color in plastics is not retreating in the face of increased recycling, and what the current situation is like for companies.

“My Favorite Color Is Colorful“

? Karl Finke

It all started with embellishing: The masterbatch manufacturer Karl Finke GmbH & Co. KG was founded 75 years ago. Being a trading company for textile dyes in early days, the company started mixing colors for the young and quickly developing industry of plastics. We interviewed the grandson of the company founder and current CEO Felix Finke about the early years, the future of the company and his father’s VW Beetle.

? SKZ/Netzsch

Liquid colors are still an underestimated alternative to a masterbatch for coloring plastics. However, shelf life is often seen as a disadvantage. This study by SKZ – Das Kunststoff-Zentrum and NETZSCH Analyzing & Testing evaluates the change in liquid colors over time when stored at room and elevated temperatures.
