What Fuels YOUR Grind?

Full disclosure… I should be “working” right now but frankly, this is more important.

The last time I wrote an article was six months ago from the driver’s seat of my car, 1,500 feet above the Gulf of St. Lawrence in Inverness, Nova Scotia. I slept in my car that night as I was in between accommodation arrangements. Well, that night and another five after that. 

A lot of life has been lived since then. I spent an entire summer exploring one of the most beautiful golf courses and islands in Canada. I met an amazing woman in line at a coffee shop on the Cabot Trail. I migrated back west to Alberta in September. I started a coffee company that was drawn up in between loops on the links. I have a related venture in the works for early 2018. To say I’ve learned a lot about life would be an understatement since leaving my corporate job in March 2017.

The biggest lesson through all of this is that there is no easy grind, no matter what path you choose to go down.

Whether you’re a sole proprietor, work for a large corporation, run a small business, or anything in between, there will always be hurdles, they just come in different forms.

That’s where 4th Line Grind comes in!

Consider this my rallying call to the grinders of the world. Let’s unite around the attitude we share for tackling the tough times so that we can savor the good. It’s a winning attitude comprised of perseverance, grit, living with zest, playing for our teammates, and embracing the journey.

We’re all grinding for something. A relationship, a new job, completing a physical feat, acceptance of ourselves or one another, making a team, creating a great coffee roast, starting a charitable initiative, building a business, finding peace.
