This month we are looking at foods we should be avoiding. We all know instinctively what foods to avoid but the temptation to grab that piece of cake, that burger, or that pizza is ever-present. Processed foods are bad for our health.
Supermarket shelves are packed with ready meals, which look good, and taste great but are full of fat, sugar, salt, and preservatives. Food manufacturers are interested in long shelf life and profit more than your health.
Be wary of the marketing on the packet, which wants to convince us that these meals are healthy. Home cooking is not as convenient and more time-consuming, but I believe fresh food prepared at home is far healthier and has a magic ingredient, and that is love, which is why it tastes so good!
To improve your health, consider the following:
Over-Processed Foods
ALL processed food is not good for our health. Cured meats for example ham and salami, contain sodium nitrates, these compounds can create unhealthy inflammation in the body. Chronic inflammation is responsible for autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular disease, and some cancers. Recent research suggests that highly processed foods also adversely affect our gut health. ??????????

Saturated Fats
Diets that are high in saturated fat can shorten life by predisposing us to heart disease, vascular disease, cancer, and other serious illnesses. Reducing the amount of red meat, full-fat dairy products, butter, coconut oil, ice cream and baked goods including biscuits, cakes, and pastries will help improve your health. ????????????
The body does need fat. Fats contain building blocks called fatty acids. Children, in particular, need fat for normal brain development and good fats are essential to all of us because fat provides energy and supports growth. These essential fats are in oily fish, nuts, and seeds. ??????
Salt
Control your intake of salt, as too much salt can be responsible for increasing blood pressure.
