What if Food is Your Drug of Choice?

I find it so common for people to have addictions to food. I thought it would be helpful to share some practical ways that have helped me find peace with my relationship to food.

Why do I refer to food as my drug of choice? I say this because for the majority of my life I have used food as a coping mechanism. I have used eating to help deal with difficult emotions. For example, eating when stressed/anxious/sad.

This addiction can be so frustrating since food is a necessity.?

I am hoping to share?3 helpful tips?for managing obsessions with food so you can be at peace, healthy, and whole.?You matter and your health matters.

So what got me thinking about this is that I've been experiencing a lot of peace lately with food it is no longer my obsession and I've really been thinking about how did I get here?

I?have spent most of my life worrying about food from the time I wake up?till the time I go to bed, thinking what am I going to eat for breakfast??

Luckily there are?three things that have helped me?to focus on my life and my wellbeing as opposed to just food.

My greatest wish?is that your energy goes to your family, your community, your own wellbeing, and to your creation.

  1. Self-care?is crucial.?And what do I mean by?self-care??I mean everything that contributes to your wellness. It can include; exercise, rest, joy, relationships, rest, surroundings, your spirit/soul, etc. Take a time to identify what you need to be well. This does not have to be overwhelming. It can start with a simple, "What is one simple thing I could be doing right now that would most benefit my health & well-being?" If you ask that everyday, you will take care of you.
  2. Plan ahead.?Make a menu for the week.?Plan ahead what you will be eating for your meals and snacks and shop accordingly.?This will?minimize the amount of time you will be?obsessing over your meal intake since it already scheduled and planned.
  3. Mind your nutrients.?The more you nourish your body with what it needs, the less you have to think and worry about food. So making sure that you're drinking enough water,?eating?nutrient-dense foods, eating real food. Eat real food (food your great grand-parents would recognize as food) not too much, not too little) as much as you can.

I hope this was helpful?and I hope you are inspired to focus on these three steps. If you do them consistently, you will find yourself healing your relationship to food.

Free yourself?from unhealthy patterns with food.?I am rooting for you!
