Low-Code and No-Code will dominate the industry in 2022?

In a recent Forbes article, 16 members of the Forbes Technology council named their top pick for technologies and trends that will dominate the tech and business industry in 2022.?Of course, one obvious pick would be No-Code and Low-Code solutions.?

Reasons for that were:?

• The Citizen Developer movement continues to grow?
• Democratization of enterprise technology?
• Overloaded IT reduce their workload through Low-Code solutions?
• Focus on more key-related business tasks now?

CLEVR's prediction for Low-Code in 2022??

CLEVR is one of Mendix’s longest-standing Low-Code go-to-market partners and has four Low-Code predictions for 2022:??

• Low-Code will help businesses with the increasing demand for better customer experiences?
• No- and Low-Code empowers Citizen Developer while there is a shortcoming of professional developers?
• Low-Code is used in 75% of enterprise applications?
• Business workflows will become self-learning?

Amazon Web Services expanding their No-Code portfolio?

AWS launched two No- and Low-Code services before they announced Amazon Sagemaker Canvas:?Amazon Honeycode a visual web and mobile application builder?and Amplify Studio, a visual development service for application stacks.?

The Amazon Sagemaker Canvas is a machine learning service for any engineer or business user to build machine learning predictions via point-and-click options and?automatically combine your data and create individual or batch predictions.?

The SageMaker Canvas has:

• An easy-to-use touch to it?
• Does not feel like drag-and-drop features from No-Code tools?
• Feels more like using AWS console?

Amazons’ reasons for expanding their No- and Low-Code portfolio:

• Demand for cloud-focused skills is too high?
• Current skill-gap problem and many unfilled roles?
• Delay and or re-thinking of cloud-based projects??
• Possible decrease in revenue?
• Want to tap into a demographic of non-technical users with No- and Low-Code?

SAP joins the No-Code and Low-Code movement

SAP jumps on the No-Code and Low-Code train by enabling their customers to develop apps and adjust the SAP processes through drag-and-drop options. Soon, they plan on automating workflows for controlling and finance departments?

For a No-Code development environment:

• SAP took over AppGyver, a No-Code platform.

For Low-Code development environment:?

• SAP announced Business Application Studio?

Especially in the NCLC area numerous investments are made, here are some of the latest fundings!?

EasySend raises 55.5 million US Dollars?

• EasySend is a No-Code startup from Tel Aviv?
• EasySend helps mainly Insurance and financial service providers with No-Code tools to combine claims, onboarding forms and loan agreements into one single platform.?

• Zenity is another startup from Tel Aviv?
• Specializes in No-Code and Low-Code security?
• Zenity sets its goal to prevent unintentional data leaks, potential breaches, and ransomware attacks?

Success Stories?

I decided to add a new section to the newsletter to show people who don't know No-Code /Low-Vode yet what is possible. With success stories, I want to give you some insights into things that are possible. Hope it helps!?

How TrackVia put the UCSD store back on track?

• UCSD University store paper-based inventory was outdated?
• Delivery of cylinders went lost or couldn’t be tracked anymore?
• TrackVia (a No-Code and Low-Code development platform) digitalized the inventory and automated daily recurring tasks?
• UCSD University store reported an increase in overall process efficiency and accuracy?

Mendix aids NC State University's with Low-Code?

• The university offers different non-credit-courses to the inhabitants of North Carolina?

• MVP launched within 2 months

Procesio for MVP building??

• No- and Low-Code tools are major hacks when it comes to MVP building
• Procesio provides the environment for MVP building with development and automation??

In their article they are showing use cases for MVP building:??

• Synching inventory stocks between e-commerce platform and marketplace??
• Triggering a process each time an invoice is generated??

Coca-Cola Japan Bottlers Inc. reorganizes with Softtool??

CCBJI owns around 100 manufacturing operations and distribution outlets across Japan and is the most successful and largest bottling business currently. With around 6000 employees they can serve the needs of a population of 125M people.?CCBJI Supply team chose Softtool, a No-Code platform at the enterprise level.

CCBJI used their web applications for:

• KPI reporting processes??
• Kaizen improvement programs??

The solutions give them the ability to drive and share improvements across all manufacturing operations and distributions centers in Japan.?

The Salvation meets AgilePoint?

The Salvation needed a cost-effective solution that can migrate their technology and an invoice workflow application for its churches.

They have chosen AgilePoint, a Low-Code platform that empowers Citizen Developers and workflow integration.?

In the end:

• CD and professional developers could work together??
• 200% of applications were developed with the same budget??
• 75-80% reduction in the application development lifecycle?

Personal Thoughts:?

The need for digitization will be further accelerated by the covid pandemic and the Citizen Development movement will gain momentum. Some vendors (e.g. Unqork) have already shown what they have achieved in 2021 - this trend will continue in 2022!?Established players such as Amazon Web Services, SAP, and CLEVR have argus eyes on No- and Low-Code. Be it extending their portfolio with such tools, adapting their processes with drag-and-drop features, or investing into them, the No- and Low-Code movement gathers more and more followers. Gartner and Forbes view the future for No-and Low-Code optimistically with their predictions too. 2022 will be a big year for No-Code and Low-Code!
