I have been doing a lot of research lately on what to anticipate from Business Schools in 2023. Since it is impossible to know for sure what the future holds, I am going to make some educated guesses about what will not occur. With such an unpredictable year ahead, here are some trends that probably won't happen in 2023.
Business schools are facing various difficulties in the current environment, including strained budgets and a shifting nature of applicants/students. Despite this, the upcoming year offers new possibilities.
?Though 2023 remains uncertain for business schools, there are certain developments that won't be seen in the next 12 months. These seven anti-predictions can provide insight into what's to come.
- Online learning won’t replace in-person classes: Although virtual classrooms may become increasingly popular, they will never completely replace the traditional approach to teaching and learning - especially when it comes to business schools.
- Business school rankings won’t become irrelevant: School rankings remain a major part of the decision process for many prospective students, meaning that business schools will continue to strive for excellence in this area despite criticism from some quarters about their accuracy and relevance.
- Decline in diversity initiatives: Business schools have embraced diversity and inclusion programs across their recruitment and admissions processes over recent years - but this progress is unlikely to be reversed anytime soon. Diversity requirements won’t disappear: A diverse student body is essential for any successful educational institution, and this concept isn’t going anywhere anytime soon - if anything, it will become even more important in 2023.
- No rise in tuition fees: With cash-strapped students unable to bear any additional financial burden, tuition fee hikes are not likely on the agenda for next year either.
- Traditional methods of recruitment and admissions won't be the norm: Business schools will continue to embrace digital transformation, using modern technology such as AI to streamline their processes and create more personalized experiences for applicants.
- Employability won’t take a backseat: With employers increasingly looking for graduates with specific skillsets and experiences, business school programs are likely to remain focused on enhancing employability prospects through internships, placements or other career development opportunities
- Sustainability: It is unlikely that all business schools will have fully integrated sustainability into their curriculum by 2023. Although many business schools are beginning to incorporate sustainability topics into their courses, it may take some time for this to become a standard part of the curriculum.
