What ever happened to the saying, What would Jesus Do?

What ever happened to the saying, What would Jesus Do?

What is love?

When we say we love our kids, what does that mean?

How are we to love others who sin or develop bad habits against God?

When your kids break the commandments of God and you say you love them anyway, what does that mean?

Why would a parent have to say they love a child even if they sin or break commandments of God?

At what point does a parent actually confess or declare they stopped loving a child?

How do we really show our love for our children and others?

We hear often, "Oh, we must love them in their sins." or "We must let them choose and support them with love." What type of love is that? What do people mean when they say this? Please feel free to share with me and the world what that love is or what it looks like. When people say this I see nothing being done to help these people who have fallen in sin. Is it sufficient to tell them you love them with a hug and with words?

This makes me question, what is love really? Is love in question when a son, daughter, nephew or niece commits a great sin against God? Do people really stop loving others because they have sinned or performed great abominations in the sight of God?

Love is never in question for me regardless of the actions of others. Now, is it my place to love Satan, Cane, Hitler, Sex traffickers or enemies of our country who wish to take away our freedoms? I haven't gotten to that point yet, but there is empathy, compassion and sorrow for their way of life. The way they have conducted themselves is greatly disturbing and causes me to wish they would all know of the gospel of Jesus Christ, even repenting for their sins and way of life.

Let's discuss a topic closer to home or perhaps what we deal with on a more frequent basis. We hear often we should love our family members who fall away in great sin. My first thought is, "When did we stop loving them?" When people say this does that mean we instantly forgive them and we do nothing to help them overcome their sins or bad habits? Frankly, it bothers me greatly to hear someone say, "We just need to love them" and they do nothing to help the sinner improve. This begs the question, "What is love really?"

Love to me is teaching constantly daily making our family members and loved ones know we care enough to open our mouth to address concerns. Love to me is staying on top of your children's way of life and loved ones with: instruction, guidance, structure, discipline, rewards and consequences. Love is recognizing your loved one having inappropriate behavior or actions and addressing them immediately; while teaching them the correct ways of God, even while reminding them of what would Jesus do?

For example, if you have a child or family member who is following through with the acts of homosexuality, what needs to be done. First, telling them with a hug is fine, but how about doing what Jesus would do? Yes, it is difficult to live a life like our Savior Jesus Christ, but he showed us the perfect example of how to love others: we are to teach, comfort, show compassion, empathy, call to repent and help them overcome their sin by teaching them how to live every day. This means we teach our loved ones regardless of how old or young they are. Jesus didn't start his ministry until he was 30. Once your 18 year old leaves the house that is not the age to stop teaching your children. Children need to be taught throughout their lives, even as we adults are children to our parents and we should listen to their council, even if they are in their 80's.

Teach your children the gospel truths. Teach them we do not have to have sex with someone just because we love them. Sex is for a man and women to procreate and replenish the earth. A man and women are the only ones who should be intimate after marriage to bring to pass the commandment of God; which is to give a man and a women great joy. God knows what it takes to be happy. When any child of God is tempted to perform sexual acts with someone before marriage it has nothing to do with fulfilling Gods laws of procreation for the better of that couple, especially if they are of the same gender. Now, a man and women who have a child out of wedlock may end up getting married and the entire family may become an eternal family with great everlasting joy. However, two people of the same gender will never have this ability or promise in the sight of God. Homosexuality doesn't exist in the presence of God, nor when Jesus Christ returns to the earth will he condone this evil act. These are not my words, but they are from God. Homosexuality is an abomination!

With all the sensitivity and compassion of the Lord I say that people are tempted often to explore or have inappropriate physical relations with someone of the same gender. When those thoughts or feelings come upon you I suggest you kneel down immediately and ask our father in heaven to help you stop thinking about them and help you overcome those thoughts knowing they are perversions in the sight of God. There is nothing wrong with commanding our Father in Heaven to have those feeling and thoughts be removed from your mind in accordance with your faith in Jesus Christ knowing that through him all things are possible.

I do not believe men or women are born to be sinners, that would take away free agency. I believe all mankind is tempted acting upon exciting thoughts or ideas. And if they recognize they are wrong in the site of God and repent with a sincere heart, then that is between them and Lord to where they will reside for eternity; let alone the blessings that come upon them in this life. Again, no one was born to be gay, just as no one was born to be a thief, a liar, a molester, a pedophile a stalker, a killer or adulterer. How many of these people tell us, "I was born this way." As Jesus would never condone any sin against God, we must stop supporting those who do by merely saying, "We love you for who you are." Of course we love them as a child of God and family member, but we do not love their acts against God. They must be taught and supported these things are against Gods will and because we love them more than anyone on earth we beg of them to repent, stop those acts and unite with the Father in heaven for eternity.

Our Goals as a family is to have everyone there forever in the presence of God, even the Celestial kingdom or heaven to the highest degree. No person who believes in God will tell you they can commit the acts of homosexuality in the presence of God and he will allow that to happen. Now, as a parent of seven children I will do everything I can to make sure my children understand this law of God, for it is the only way we can all be together forever. Now, Satan clearly rebelled against God and the spirit of rebellion is real and alive. That evil spirit also must be taught to our loved ones. Everyone must know each of us are held accountable for our sins and actions. We can't blame mom or dad for a hard upbringing. Sure, many families are dysfunctional and children go through hard times, just as parents to do. No one wants to live in the shoes of another or take their trouble on. There are children born on the streets and there are those born in great wealth who both have miserable lives, yet both have grow up to be successful in the site of God. Regardless of your upbringing or any difficulties you may have Jesus Christ can save all people from sin, pain, misery or sadness.

As a parent I constantly teach my children daily to obey Gods laws, and I can do that as a imperfect example. As parents we can tell our children to be better than we are. I beg of my children to be better than their parents have been, even in our poor example of marriage. That does not give them an excuse to be worse or commit greater sin.

Parents must teach daily the principals of obedience. Children must not ask why every time they need to do the dishes, take out the trash, clean their room or put their shoes away. Parents are responsible to teach their children the greatest commandment in the kingdom of God...Obedience! Children must obey their parents, even honor their father and mother as it is written in the Ten Commandments. If you cannot obey your earthy father or mother what makes you think you will be ready to obey your Father in heaven? Obedience to the laws of God while living on earth are in place for all of us to obtain great joy, peace, love and harmony one with another.
