Over the Edge Special Olympics Event! North Carolina Asheville hosted their first fundraiser for the Over the Edge Special Olympics and CSUSA Shoffner got to be part of this great event. In a week and half we raised $1,300.00 which allowed us to have one of our team members, Andrew Betz, repel off the side of the 12 story Renaissance Hotel in downtown Asheville. Did you know North Carolina has been part of sending athletes to the Special Olympics since 1968? The money raised sent young men and women to the Special Olympics to represent the United States. It is a really good feeling when you can be a part of an event like this. I was told they will be doing this event again and hopefully with a little more time we can raise more. Thank you to all that donated!

Jeff Holt and Major Steadman are our latest “Innovation Award” winners. Jeff Holt is a Pipefitter that has been with our company for over 20 years. Major Steadman is also a Pipefitter and started with our company just over a year ago. Both are currently working in our Knoxville fabrication department. They were faced with the challenge of how to safely move and transport a large backflow assembly to the Knoxville Multi-Use Stadium project. They came up with the idea to add custom brackets and caster wheels to the steel support frame so that the height could be adjusted as needed. Having this innovative design allows for the entire frame to be lifted up, thereby displacing the frame weight onto the wheels so that it can be rolled around easily. Once moved into place, the assembly can be lowered down, brackets unbolted, and sent back to the fabrication department to be reused on the next application. The stadium crew was able to push this back flow assembly into place using only two guys and minimal effort and it was very well balanced. For this innovation, they will each receive a $50 gift card.
