What Entrepreneurs Can Learn From The Death of Nipsey Hussle

The world is still grieving about the death of Nipsey Hussle. People that have never heard of him are being directly impacted due to overwhelming amount of social media grieving. Yet, there are 3 things his sudden passing brings to light that many entrepreneurs have not outlined yet.

  1. Workflow

I was able to work with Bianca from Cayden Cay Consulting over the years to design an impeccable work flow that makes it easy for my business to continuously run even if I am not present and able to assist clients and students. Many entrepreneurs do everything themselves and that forces the business to rely on their presence solely in order to run efficiently. Right now the co-working space that Nipsey Hussle opened in his neighborhood is closed until further notice. I believe it is closed because he was killed in front of the facility but if he wasn't, how would their business continue to run if he wasn't there making sure all of the tasks were being implemented to his level excellence?

  1. Mental Health Process

Many entrepreneurs are not focused on their mental health or their staff. We live in a world and a day and age where mental health checkups are just as important as bodily check ups. The world has been traumatic for everyone in different capacities over the past few years. We are all walking around still healing from something deep. Does your business have anything in place to encourage you and your staff to activate “mindfulness”?

  1. Succession Plan

Who will run your business if you were to pass today? Who would be in charge? What would you like to take place in your absence. Many entrepreneurs never think about this. I recently saw an episode of The Profit featuring Marcus Lemonis and a guy that runs The Soup Market in Milwaukee was dealing with the sudden death of his partner. Marcus gave advice on ways to buy the family out in order to start the expansion process . I started to think about the fact that I do not know anyone with a succession plan and I know 100's of entrepreneurs. For some reason we all think that we will live forever.

Overall being a business owner is hard. The above three things are just stepping stones to ensuring that you and your staff have the most supportive environment possible. The plan is to grow and maintain a legacy, not worry it all away due to not being prepared. I'd like to thank Nipsey for being an amazing role model in his later years of life and focusing on amazing ways to make his community better.
