The Definition of Entrepreneurism

In mid June, I was at Kennedy Space Center hosting and celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Apollo 14. On the bus out to the facility, I was explaining to Laura Shepard what entrepreneurs do. When we passed the Blue Origin building, Laura mentioned what a shame it was that Blue named it's first rocket "New Shepard," but no members of the family were involved. "Let's fix that," I said to her.

What? How?

This is what entrepreneurs do. We take ideas, even impossible ones, and we turn them into reality. You guys know what I'm talking about, right? :-)

Thanks to the herculean and creative efforts of fellow entrepreneurs Danielle Roosa , Kevin Lofgren , Matt Thompson , Eric Lenington , Heather Sisson , and several others... just a few weeks later Laura and her sister had front row seats to Blue Origin's first launch. Now, less than six months later, Laura has a seat to FLY with Michael Strahan and four others on the December 9th launch!

Regardless of the scope of the problem, we always find a pathway to the solution. Creative thinking, and disruption, whenever necessary. That is entrepreneurism. Sometimes the end result is something truly beautiful and inspirational, like the daughter of the first American in Space, getting to GO to space!!!
