What the entourage effect tells us about the medical potential of cannabinoids other than CBD.
What the entourage effect tells us about the medical potential of cannabinoids other than CBD.
Do you remember that year or two in elementary school when everyone had the same toy and was constantly playing with it? Maybe it was yo-yos or Pogs or Tamagotchis. More recently, it’s fidget spinners or flipping partially-filled water bottles. I know I wasted at least two years getting good at yo-yos when I should have spent that time improving my skills in something I enjoyed even more: sports. Maybe then I could have gotten a scholarship to university instead of drowning myself in debt.
Whatever the cool toy in your school was, it’s a perfect analogy for the health benefits of a specific cannabinoids in Cannabis that everyone is talking about: cannabidiol (CBD). If we only focus on CBD, however, it’s guaranteed we’ll be giving up future benefits had we explored other options.
Cannabis doesn’t create a singular medicinal compound in its many molecular structures. The number of possibly-medicinal compounds in just one plant can reach into the triple digits. From the widely-known THC to the more obscure CBN and THCV, the cannabinoid therapeutic potential is well beyond what we currently know to be true.
In 1998, Dr. Mechoulam and his team introduced the idea of the entourage effect. This research validated the hypothesis that the terpenes and cannabinoids in cannabis combine synergistically, enhancing their therapeutic benefits. “This effect may represent a novel route for molecular regulation of endogenous cannabinoid activity.”
Certain terpenes catalyze or inhibit the formation of compounds in the cultivar. Scientists can manipulate cannabinoids to their desired ratios in vivo because of comprehensive research on terpenes and how they function.
Thanks to Dr. Raphael Mechoulam and scientists today, we know more about hemp cannabis and how many of its compounds interact with the human mind and body. It paves the way for future research and brings the healing benefits of cannabis to more people around the world.
For example, THCV is a CB1 neutral antagonist at low doses, but an agonist in high doses. While more research is surely required in order to create a complete record of cannabinoid therapeutic effects, there already exist significant findings about some of the lesser-known cannabinoids cousins of THC and CBD:
- THCV: Less psychoactive than THC – Controls seizures, reduces appetite.
- CBDA: CBD’sacidic precursor -Fights nausea, combats inflammation, tumor- and cancer-fighting properties.
- CBC: Only found in trace amounts – Reduces pain, antibiotic properties, anti-cancer properties.
- CBN: Oxidative product of CBD- Alleviates pain, combats muscle spasms, sleep-aid.
- CBG: Byproduct of CBGA aging process -Reduces blood pressure, antifungal/antibiotic properties, antidepressant. We have now identified 116 cannabinoids article on 116 cannabinoids
- CBDA
- CGA
- THCA
One of the challenges CBD oils and cannabinoids face is the fact that it is hydrophobic- it does not like water so maximum bioavailability is inhibited. Some scientist have used nano particles emulsified in phospholipids which indeed makes them much more bioavailable but at a cost. In 1998 ,Dr. Mechoulam and his team validated the hypothesis for something called the entourage effect. In short the terpenes and phytonutrients in the whole plant full spectrum molecule of hemp preciptitates a cascading effect of positve health benefits such as bringing the body into homeostasis.
The challenge for better bioavailable Hemp CBD was undertaken and successfully achieved. Through a company in California ,CTFO hired a biotech firm to create a hydrophilic hemp molecule- water loving .Jeremy Ducharme IS THE DRIVING FORCE behind this exciting innovation. They did so with a patented oxygenation process that increases the bioavailability of whole hemp compound by the power of 10. Ten times more circulating in the blood stream targeting cells with dysfunction and overcoming CB receptor saturation in the process. This creates a super charged oxgenated oil that when it becomes hydrophilic becomes super light easily absorbed with a covalent charge that facilitates coupling of the synergistic molecules,ie the entourage effect. This is a game changer in natural healing. These 10 x pure products are exclusive to CTFO.
Cells have a substrate for nutrients and the endogenous CB receptors are like a lock .Cannabinoids are the key . When the key is in the lock it can not receive any more cannabinoids-it is saturated. The time for the substrate to again become available varies for every individual physiology ,however it is normally several hours. CBD oil that is not hydrophobic is quickly excreted from the body leaving a void( all Hemp derived oils and cannabinoids not exposed to this patented process). Jeremy Ducharmee's water soluble oxygenated hemp compound is hydrophillic and easily assimilated into the blood plasma- the water part of our blood. It remains in circulation much longer therefore achieving greater bioavailbility- greater efficacy.
What this tells us is that the world of cannabinoids is incredibly intricate. While it might be hip to play with the one fancy toy in cannabis school–CBD–the exciting potential of these other cannabinoids means we shouldn’t limit ourselves and our future chance at graduating to a new level of cannabis education.to become more involved with CTFO and share the exclusive healing full spectrum nutrients of 10 X PURE

6 年Great article and learning that the way CBD is being produced so it is easier to be absorbed by the body is amazing.
