What Employees Really Think About Sleeky Web Design
Ever wondered what the employees of your favourite web design company think about their jobs (and Harry Styles)? You’re in luck!
This week the employees of Sleeky Web Design to answer ten questions, ranging from what our favourite thing about working at Sleeky is, to ‘Do you like Harry Styles’? Come along as we review the answers and find out a little bit more about our beloved team.
The Questions
We started off with an easy question: What is your favourite thing about working at Sleeky? The overall consensus was that the people loved the people, with employees mentioning the “motivated team” and “friendly colleagues”. We also love the work we are tasked to complete, especially when a design comes along that we feel passionate about.
The questions took a bit of a turn with the next question: What is your NEW favourite film? Our answers ranged from Anatomy of a Fall (director David), to Top Gun Maverick (developer Jane), to Hereditary (project manager Jennifer). Overall, we don’t seem to have a favourite genre, but definitely know how to pick the scary movies!
We were next asked to describe our average day at Sleeky in 5 words. We’ll start with the favourite answer from our director David: “Oh sometimes snakes, occasionally ladders”. We aren’t quite sure what it means, but we believe it’s positive! Other words included, but were not limited to, “coffee”, “collaborative”, “engaging”, “challenging”, and “code (x5)”. Overall, a day at Sleeky is collaborative, educational, and full of ladders.
The next question seemed to unite the us more than any others. “What is your lunch of choice?” only presented one answer: “Wagamama’s”. The collective favourite office lunch has been officially awarded to the UK’s favourite Asian food-based chain.
On a more serious note, we were next asked what our favourite project to work on has been. The web creation for an audit company My Audit Spot won the top spot, with David and our developer Dean mentioning how wonderfully challenging the project was, as it provided them the opportunity to push their creative boundaries. Web design for HI-ACT was our developer Jane’s favourite project, with mentions of how it’s fun animations and interesting designs hit the creative sweet spot.
We next dived into how long it takes us all to get to work. On average, it takes 23 minutes to make it to the office, with the shortest commute coming in at 10 minutes (if the metro centre lights are green) from David and the longest commute a staggering 35 minutes from Dean. It could be worse, but it definitely could be better.
Next, a question from the digital age: How do we feel about Sleeky’s hybrid office approach? For some context, Sleeky operates on a schedule of three days at home, and two days in the office. Overall, we all agree that the hybrid schedule is the perfect balance between the flexibility of remote work and the social aspect of office life. Due to this schedule, doctors’ appointments are never missed, and packages are always collected, all while we still maintain a close relationship with the people we work with. A win-win in everyone’s eyes!
The third to last questions will bring us back to office food choices, this time asking what our favourite 3pm snack is? Chocolate comes in first, Jane and Dean both enjoying the occasional chocolate biscuit with coffee. Other responses to this question include hard-boiled eggs from Jennifer, Greggs doughnuts from David, and dried pineapple from our intern Sarah. While there are a range of answers, it can be assumed that we all mostly have a sweet tooth when 3pm rolls around.
We were next asked who inspires us and a wide variety of answers were given. David said Richard Hendricks from Silicon Valley, and Jane said anyone who can stick to a gym routine. Dean was inspired by people who were passionate about what they do for work, and Jennifer is inspired by people who are truly happy with what they have is the present.
Finally, the question you all have been waiting for: Do Sleeky employees like Harry Styles? The overwhelming answer is that there's some negativity in the group. We have a general knowledge of his music and know that he is an actor, and although David does know he prefers singer Zayn over Styles, that’s about as far as our knowledge stretches.
If you have made it to the end, well done! You officially know your favourite web design team better than ever, and hopefully, have a small understanding of what a day in the life looks like.
