It Is What It Is, Embrace It!

It Is What It Is, Embrace It!

"I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish that he didn’t trust me so much.” – Mother Teresa

I’ve visited different places and read different books trying to understand why certain people go through unbearably difficult situations and conditions while risking their lives in the process trying to achieve something. To me, handling something has a very deep meaning. It’s like a movement of some sort, if it’s leader or founder dies, those that believe in the idea continue with it until its fulfilment. Something keeps them grounded, however challenging the conditions.

What I’ve found to be constantly keeping me grounded whenever the storms of life angrily blow at me, is the final picture on the other side of the angry storm. The only way, I’ve found through research as well as trial and error, of developing a close relationship with this future picture, that is much better than the current one, is constantly keeping that future picture in front of me as many times as I possibly can. This picture eventually forms in the subconscious mind and this process is called visualization. It’s undeniably true that whatever you focus on the longest, becomes your strongest.

Pursuing your dreams is a very hard and lonely road to travel. It’s lonely not because there’s no one around you, but because no one truly understands your reasons and willingness to pay the heavy and at times, the ultimate price just to achieve that future-picture.

Benjamin Disraeli said, “I’ve brought myself, by long meditation, to the conviction that a human being with a settled purpose must accomplish it. And that nothing can resist a will which will stake even existence upon its fulfilment.” These words challenged my thinking, even more, Steve Biko said, “It’s better to die for an idea that will live than to live for idea that will die.” These words inspire me to face my angry storms because I know that what is possible for one, is possible for others too.

I’ve visited Robben Island where Nelson Mandela and many others were imprisoned just to get the sense of what they went through. I’ve recently visited the Auschwitz Camps in Poland also to have a sense of what Dr Victor Frankl and many others went through. Yes, I’ve had a fair share of challenges in my life but nothing near what these people went through. The only thing that made these individuals endure these horrible conditions was the vision of the future beyond the suffering. So, if you want a better future, be willing to go through the angry storms, embrace that because it is what it is. I was born to re-ignite your fire.
