What Element of Pro Blogging Do Few Understand?
(Updated 10–24–2022)
For every professional blogger you see this cyber niche seems littered with failing bloggers.
Why do bloggers fail? For many reasons, bloggers fall and decide to permanently quit blogging. Chasing money is one cause. Not following your blogging passion is another critical issue.
One element of blogging leads to failure but this aspect of blogging seems difficult to understand. I had a difficult time grasping this truth. Going down this path felt confusing, frustrating and flat out maddening sometimes. But I finally understood what I missed for years.
Going pro consumes 1000’s of your hours.
The time element of blogging confuses most bloggers. Few bloggers understand what it feels like to give 1000’s of hours to blogging. Few bloggers understand what it means to give 1000’s of hours to blogging.
Today is October 24, 2022. Do you understand what it means to give 6–10 hours daily to blogging until October 24, 2024? Think about this concept. Dwell on the idea of giving 10 hours to blogging today. How does it feel to think about blogging for 10 hours today? Does your ego resist the idea of blogging for 10 hours today? Does fear manifest as ego excuses surface the moment you even consider blogging for 10 hours today?
Most people consider time in employee terms.. People think about working 8 hours today, working 8 hours tomorrow then wrapping up the week in 5 days, Employees expect a paycheck after working for 40 hours. Work for a short period of time. Get money for the work.
Being a professional blogger adds a time element unlike working for 40 hours to get $500 or $1,000 or $10,000. Blogging is working for 500 to 1000 hours to lay the foundation for a successful blogging campaign while getting paid 0 dollars. Does that sit well with you? Does that sound realistic to you? Does that sound unbearable to you? Does that sound insane to you?
Do something else if working for free seems ridiculous to you because blogging ain’t for you. Blogging is a different gig all together. Blogging demands a time element misunderstood by humanity because most humans think, feel and act like employees.
Get into the entrepreneur mindset. Think long term. Think working for a long time before one penny flows through your blogging business.
Study every powerful blogger. Study every professional blogger. Every success worked for free for a bit to increase their:
to the point of growing their blogging profits to professional levels. Everything changes if you change your time frame approach. Time becomes irrelevant the moment you stop being impatient. Time becomes no issue. Patience becomes your buzzword. No longer will you quit — or want to quit — every few months or every year.
See the blogging journey through. Be patient. Be persistent. Be generous. Success will find you.
But making shifts from the employee to the entrepreneur mindset feels uncomfortable because getting paid after 6–12 months feels different than getting paid over 40 hours. Getting paid $45 after 3 months feels different than getting paid after 80 hours. Making this shift feels scary but becomes necessary because it takes generous service and significant time to create something special.
Becoming a professional blogger consumes a significant amount of time but the freedom you enjoy makes the investment wise. Blogging for 1000’s of hours allowed me to be free to circle the globe. I put in time to where time is not an issue in my life. Does that investment sound foolish? Humanity runs around as frenetically as a gerbil working a wheel because time seems scare. But investing time in your long term freedom allows you to leave the rat race for good.
Imagine a life where time is no object.
See the journey through. Being free is worth it. Succeeding is worth it. Living your dreams is worth it. Simply reframe your view of blogging and building an online business. Observe top entrepreneurs. Every single one worked for a long time before making dough. Follow their example to create something special and lasting. Do not follow examples of employees working 40 hours weekly to demand payment every week.

Blogging and business building are quite different than working a job in terms of the time element.
Invest in your freedom.
Put in the time now to become a professional blogger.
Time Element
Bloggers who have a difficult time understanding what it means to give 1000’s of hours to blogging need to consider their freedom.
Focusing on freedom gained in proportion to the time investment gives you clarity in fully understanding the time element.
Perhaps you invest 5,000 blogging work hours spanning years of your life. That time element gives you freedom, not a paycheck that you need to keep trading time for, week after week.
Enjoying the freedom of running a full time blogging business lets you work when you want to where you want to. Does that time investment sound steep when you gain freedom as your return? Does working from anywhere in the world as a traveler sound worth putting in 1000’s of blogging work hours?
As always, blogging seems easier if freedom drives you to blog.
Remember why you want to put in the time. Be diligent in recalling your fun, freeing driver.
Get after it. Blog today. Put in the time.
Freedom will be yours if you give a decent chunk of your life to blogging.
This is not like a job where you get paid a check weekly only if you work for an employer. Running a blogging business is the farthest thing from trading time for money. In truth, it is the reverse. Blogging involves trading time and work for ever increasing freedom in the form of earning passive income around the clock.
Of course, the trick is to keep putting in time and work to build your blog to this point.
I know you’re up to it.
