Indian Enterprise Sustainability: The Journey Towards Net Zero Emissions
While the country has made significant progress towards meeting its emissions reduction targets under the Paris Agreement, total greenhouse gas emissions are projected to increase by over 40% by 2030 with current policies.
To achieve net zero emissions by 2070, it is crucial for Indian corporations to understand their role in the sustainability journey.
Corporates should conduct a comprehensive assessment of their carbon footprint by identifying all sources of greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain, including Scope 3 emissions.
Based on the carbon footprint assessment, they should set ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
An enterprise must implement measures to reduce emissions and involve employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Indian corporations can play a vital role in achieving India's net-zero carbon emissions goal.
Develop a sustainability strategy that aligns with the organization's overall mission and goals, conduct a comprehensive assessment of the organization's carbon footprint, and set ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
