What a Dope!

True story...
We visited the Montana Roberges in May, 2019. I remember (without warning) getting out of the car and standing on the sidewalk trying to move my legs, but couldn't. Matt got me a walking stick and I made my way into the house. Called that day and made an appointment to see my doctor when I got home on Monday. Limped badly all weekend.
May 20, 2019 - Saw GP. Got X-ray. Arthritis in hip. Where did that come from? Been happening over a long time. What do they say about "What you don't know that you don't know..."?
May 23, 2019 - Saw surgeon. Very excitedly showed me the new parts that he wanted to install in my body. No other options. Not gonna get better.
August 14, 2019 - Saw PCP, got referral for second opinion.
November 1, 2019 - Met second surgeon. He told me what I wanted to hear. Try physical therapy, use cane even when I don't need it. Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation. I'll know when I'm ready because I'll be tired of saying "No" to things that I really want to do.
4 years of stupidity, denial and missed fun.
June 21, 2023 - New X-rays.
July 13, 2023 - Meet with PA/Surgeon. It's time. Schedule surgery ASAP.

November 9, 2023 - Woke up from surgery very pissed off at myself for waiting so long, missing what I missed and most importantly, not giving my family what they wanted.
I was cautious about falling for 3 months after surgery (per PA/surgeon), but have never had pain in that hip since I woke up after surgery and there's not a lot that I can't do.
That first round of X-rays cost about $1,000 and led to a surgery that cost $53,000.
I have insurance, but how much 'living' did my denial, stupidity and delay cost me?
When was the last time you lost a sale that you shouldn't have lost?
How long have you been in denial? How long will you delay? at what cost?
What don't you know that you don't know?
