I have recently been asked by many what does it take to immigrate? What does it actually require?
In order to answer this question, it is actually important to understand what the immigration process is. The immigration process is a procedure that will change your life forever. It is actually a commitment on your part to know exactly what you are getting into and understand that your life will change permanently.
Unlike a?relocation procedure for work or study or a temporary movement to a new destination, in an immigration process the immigrant knows that he intends to stay in the chosen destination permanently, and therefore the immigration process is much more complex than a regular/temporary relocation procedure for the purpose of work or study.
The immigration process is considered to be a much more emotional process due to the fact that it is a life changing process .It is therefore very important to understand that not everyone is ready for this commitment. Not everyone is willing to give up their comfort zone. I will now answer the main question of what does it take to immigrate. There are six different elements that I will mention in this article. These elements are critical in order for you to successfully undergo an immigration process:
- ?First you need to ask yourself the following questions: Where do I see myself in 5 - 10 years from now? Am I currently happy in the environment I am in? Do I consider myself living in my native country for a long time? Where do I see my future?
- If you do not see your future in your native country, you must choose your immigration destination and to that end, you must read every piece of information you can find about that destination even before you arrive there. The more information you read, the better perspective you will have on your destination. If you know people who already live in that destination, consult with them and gain more information.
- Prepare yourself financially. You need to save money before your immigration journey because you do not know when you will find work or a source of income in your new destination country. How much money do you need to save? Of course it depends on your destination but currently in this year?- 2022 and due to world wide inflation, you need to save at least 15K €.
- You need to come with the awareness and emotional preparation and truly understand that the immigration process is going to change your life forever. Also to have an awareness and understanding that you may need to learn a new language.
- You must understand that in many cases in the early stages of the immigration process, you will have to live a lower standard of living than you are used to now, as well as the understanding that even if you find a job or a source of income there are many chances you will earn less than you earned in your native country. Are you willing to live a simple life and lower your standard of living? Are you willing to sacrifice now for your future?
- In case you answered yes to the last question, right now, what you have left to do is be proactive and?take action. To do this, you will have to step out of your comfort zone, and only after you will thoroughly understand the bureaucratic immigration procedures at your chosen destination, it's your time - buy a one way flight ticket and start your immigration journey!
