We caught up with Cornerstone Office Search who are our partner for 2019 to find out more about what success means to them, why they started their business, their mission, vision, and legacy and advice to their younger self.
Who is Cornerstone Office Search?
Primarily we help businesses find their ideal office space. However, we inadvertently also help connect people with each other as we come across so many varied companies doing what we do!
What inspired you to start the business?
We used to work for a number of office space providers and saw the good, the bad and the ugly parts of the industry.
We felt there was less of a connection between the client and the office space provider, as well as wanting to improve the office provider-broker relationship as we saw it break down so often through poor communication.
Cornerstone Office Search’s mission from inception was to bring great service into the broker and agent business and to make the process of finding workspace easy, transparent and enjoyable for our customers.
What is your vision for the business?
We want to remain a personable, family-feel brokerage and ensure that we keep finding the best spaces and deals for our clients. We are growing steadily so we would like to continue that consistency and aim to gain the majority of business through referrals and recommendations.
We also have plans to expand into Europe and bring the office-broker model into the forefront of people’s minds when looking to relocate, as it’s a very UK concept.
We launched in Dublin last year, bringing our industry-leading service to the burgeoning Irish flexible office space market and this is what we plan to bring to global cities over the coming months and years.
What daily routines do you follow?
We’re a small team so we always discuss each other’s plans and pipelines at the beginning of the day. We have a weekly marketing and sales meeting to discuss all things that are ongoing and on the horizon. As a smaller business, we have to be quite reactive so there isn’t a full daily structure as such. One routine that will never be broken though is the daily dog walk of our office pooches, Lady and Axel!
What does Success mean to you?
Stress-free living
Running your own business will, of course, always have its own stressors, but not having to worry about external shareholders, work politics, management issues, fighting for commission, etc is a good barometer for success.
From a customer perspective, watching our clients grow and succeed in their own businesses is pretty satisfying too.
What would you have done differently knowing what you do today?
Started sooner!
What advice would you give your younger self?
Don’t take yourself too seriously, don’t sweat the small stuff, don’t let the naysayers derail your dreams and ambitions and don’t care too much of what others think of you. Believe in yourself and well… probably drink a little less.
