Success is a buzz term that we often hear and use in our daily lives. But,do we really understand the meaning of it? For me, success means not only that I get to enjoy some financial rewards, but also achieving personal goals like learning a foreign language fluently and being able to feel fulfilled at the end of the day. So, for this post, we will explore some perspectives on success and what it can mean to some people.
1. Success is not a destination, but a JOURNEY.
For some people, success is like a journey for them. They think that success is the continuous pursuit of greatness, growth, and improvement. This kind of success perspective is often linked to personal and professional growth, and there are people who seek to improve their skills and abilities continuously. It is a way of life that involves setting goals, learning from failures, and continuously striving to become a better version of oneself.
So, this meaning of success presents the importance of the process than the outcome. Success is not just about reaching the destination, but enjoying the journey along the way. This standpoint of success motivates individuals to seek satisfaction in the process of learning and growing, rather than just the end result.
2. Wealth and Status are the Measure of Success
Another standpoint of success is based on the buildup of wealth and status. For people, the success depends on the amount of money that they earn, the expensive houses and bags that they own, the prestige associated with their respective job title. This standpoint of success is more on societal norms and expectations if one achieves certain levels of success to consider as “successful”.

Although there is nothing wrong about striving for financial success and status, but it does not guarantee happiness or fulfilment. Some people would say that material possessions can bring temporary happiness, but they are not sustainable sources of fulfilment in the long term. Success based on wealth and status can also create an unhealthy obsession with material possessions, leading to a lack of appreciation for the more important things in life.
3. Success is a State of Mind
State of mind type of success is based on personal satisfaction and happiness. One would just feel fulfilled and content with their lives by not worried about their financial or social status. It is very subjective and personalized to each individual, based on their values and belief.
This perspective is based on the concept that happiness and satisfaction are the end goal. Success is not measured by external factors, but internal. It motivates one to focus on themselves, in terms of personal growth, relationships, and experiences of life.
In short, success is a term that can mean different things to different people. It is essential to define success based on one's values, beliefs, and aspirations, rather than societal norms and expectations. Success can be viewed as a journey, a measure of wealth and status, or a state of mind. Ultimately, success is a personal and subjective concept that can only be defined by each individual.?
