But what does self care really mean?

Hey lovely
Everybody’s version of self care will look different.
The term self care is getting thrown around a lot, but what does it really mean?
Is it a massage?
Is it a retreat?
Is it selfish?
Is it indulgent?
Is it not caring about the needs of others?
Lots of beliefs about self care floating around.
Self-care means choosing you and putting yourself first, making time and space for yourself every day.
It’s not a nice to have, it’s necessary.
Without it, you will experience resentment, overwhelm, exhaustion and it most certainly will lead to burnout. And then, you ain’t no good to nobody.
When I’m feeling torn about whether to embrace the self care, and my boundaries are being pushed, I say these mantras:
Say no to their needs, to you can say yes to yours.
And
It’s a small no, for a greater yes.
Taking care of yourself, means you are able to be there for the ones you love.
Tell me, what does self care mean to you and how do you practise it in your life?
?
Cheers,
Emma

P.S. I’m in Sri Lanka right now hosting a gorgeous retreat for a fabulous group of people who have prioritised their self care and are focusing on what they want for their future. Sound good? Take a look at my upcoming retreats here.
