What does a Scrum Master do?
Scrum Master is a role in an agile development team. Agile teams are made up of a maximum of ten people (eight developers, a product owner and a Scrum Master).
The Scrum Master is a servant leader. Meaning he or she has no direct leadership power over the other team members. Scrum Masters are mediators. His or her job is to make sure that everybody can work to their best abilities. When a problem arises that obstructs the team in their work (called an impediment), the Scrum Master will find a solution for it. Being an expert in agile practices, he or she coaches the team and the organization about the rules of Scrum. Making sure the Scrum meetings (called Scrum events) are taking place is also part of the job. The Scrum Master hosts the sprint review meeting at the end of each sprint, where all team members are expected to give feedback about the teamwork.
