What do Ricky Gervais and a RED HOT Marketing Strategy Have In Common?

What do Ricky Gervais and a RED HOT Marketing Strategy Have In Common?

They both know how to massively increase your following and therefore your sales results.

Take Ricky's much-discussed opening set at the Golden Globes in 2020.

1. He knows EXACTLY who his audience is (and it wasn't the room full of celebs in attendance).

It probably wasn't even the 19 million viewers who tuned in LIVE although they are not to be sniffed at!

It's the hundreds of millions globally who will now search him out and watch him online to see for themselves what the fuss was about AND will continue to watch him on his other platforms. e.g. 300K new followers on Twitter in one day. 100's of millions on Netflix and the potential YouTube views at this point are immeasurable.

2. He was CRYSTAL CLEAR on his message.

Although a liberal himself he was sending up the liberals in the room who hold up their values like a badge of honour and the hypocrisy of that in many of their cases.

3. He had ONE GREAT OFFER and took the opportunity to make it RELEVANT to his audience.

With his second series of Afterlife being launched soon on Netflix, he didn't need to promote it or tell us how wonderful it is at all but just tie it into a recent event that everyone was talking about (Jeffery Epstein)

So we may not have the platform, potential audience or even be as pretty as Ricky Gervais is in the picture above but we can certainly learn and implement the strategy in our own marketing and sales.

Some great comparisons there Carie. It’s so true - when you try and appeal to everyone you end up appealing to no one. You want to attract the clients that are on your wavelength - and sometimes some controversial marketing is a good way of doing that!

I feel like a broken record trying to get clients to understand how important focusing on your ideal customer is. I'm running a mini-workshop on the topic next week. So important!?
