What Does Refresh Actually Do?

Since I started using a computer, I have been using Windows operating system. it is just superb, easy to use, and smooth. We are aware of the windows feature to refresh our desktop by using functional key F5 or just right click on the screen and then refresh.

But why do we refresh?

Most of us believe, including me that when we hit the refresh button i.e. F5, it actually makes our computer faster by killed some background tasks, free some space form RAM, remove junk files, and so on.

We have developed a habit and involuntary hit the F5 button all the time, it is just there right? but there is no functionality of refreshing the desktop in Ubuntu? Why so?

Can we say ubuntu is much faster than a window and so it does not require a refresh button to make it faster? is it?

No, the Refresh button does not perform any of these operations!!

Then what actually happens?

The window OS has an inbuilt feature to refresh the desktop, as the desktop is also a folder in a windows operating system, what windows os does it just refresh the desktop in order to reflect the changes related to the folders on desktop like aligning the desktop items, reflect the icons and adjusting everything in the frame.

Technically?

In technical terms, it invalidates the screen, making it dirty, so that it can be rendered again. I will explain the word dirty here in the next article.

Yes, our whole life was just a lie that it will convert our system into a supercomputer.

Even now I use the Ubuntu operating system and to be honest, even now my finger goes and hits the F5 button for no reason. Actually, in the Ubuntu operating system, there is no functionality to refresh and so there is nothing performs when we hit the F5 button in ubuntu.

Next time when you refresh your desktop-you aware of what you are doing and what it actually does.
