What does Playing Stick Ball Have to Do With Me Being Trained?
Last Week I sent out a note to all associates about “Training in your Role” Why do you think it is important to be trained in your role? Have you ever played a game and you didn’t know the rules and you felt someone on the other side was always making them up as you went along? Really frustrating!
I could remember growing up with my next door neighbor and he would constantly change the home run line when we played stick ball in the street, it always seemed as if he picked a different car depending on who was a bat. Worst of all when we argued about it, what did he do, but take his ball and go home. Didn’t take long for no one wanted him around when we played.
We are adamant that your Direct Supports (Your Management Team) Train you on the checklists that they developed for the departments that they Support. The Direct Supports are Responsible for the training and you will be held accountable to the training checklists. This is how we improve! The Standards don't change so you know exactly how to excel! We are outlining the clear expectations of all positions within Up To Par and Taylor Hospitality.
Like I said last week every property is different and every training checklist is different – however, the expectation is still the same, that you are properly trained to excel in your position. We want you to hit home runs. Training and learning never stop! Every day you must learn something new so that you are always moving forward and making a positive impact on yourself and others. I expect you to continually learn your craft, hone it, own it! Ultimately it is UP to YOU to determine your destiny…we want to further your career with US.
Never Stop!
Best,
Sean
