Everyone is your school community is struggling right now. We all agree stress is at an all-time high. When people are struggling, they tend to have more difficulties in solving problems. Not only are educators dealing with their own families and personal stresses but they are expected to give what they have always given to their jobs and to their students. And now that I have said that (because that is a BIG deal) they are now expected to provide the same level of teaching and learning when most of the factors in the equation have changed. (This is even a BIGGER deal!)
Help! Things are changing...How do I respond?
The good news… Some of the changes in education caused by the COVID pandemic are changes we have already seen happen in business and retail. Living and working in an online/remote environment is not new. Educators don’t have to be in the dark about how to pivot what they do to address many of the changing factors for effective and successful teaching and learning.
Two specific teaching and learning strategies that will support your school community in having a more effective learning experience include:
· The 5 C’s of a 21st Century Learning Environment
· Inquiry-based learning

4 年I agree It shouldn't be too foreign for educators to transfer skills, already acquired, from in-person to remote learning environments. Since 'outside of the box' thinking, culturally-informed creativity and meaningful connections between the home-school-community, everyone, parents included, is being challenged during and due to the pandemic. We are altering our mindsets and also learning to employ another side of our brains to rise to these new challenges. Change is going to be good. Healing-centered, mutual capacity-building, and practical learning-aligned partnerships are more important than ever. I am pleased to know that you are offering supports at this time!
