What does it mean to have 20/20 vision?

20/20 in modern terms means to see clearly and perfectly. However technically, 20/20 vision means to see clearly at a distance. Do we see clearly at a distance? Do we see the bigger picture, seize, and secure the prospects to enrich our journeys? Most people live their life in a blur.

Some are near-sighted – they can see the opportunities right in front of them but feel overwhelmed by the obstacles on their pathways. Crippled by anxiety and worry, they make decisions taking a short-sighted view, focusing on short-term gains or pleasures with unclear visions for future growth and positive impact.

Others are far-sighted. They see the ‘better future’ they envision for themselves, one in which they are fulfilled and are making a valuable contribution to society. However, they do not know how to acquire or use their skills or abilities to live each day in such a way that will realise their future and align to their vision. As a leader or team member, what new insights and perspectives do you use to shape your vision? Have you considered the impact, learnings and potentials of large-scale changes or interruptions along the way for an agile outlook?

An interesting fact is that the past decade was symbolised by the ‘eye’ in the Hebrew calendar – the focus being on the clarity of focus. Do you know that the most popular surgery in the world today is laser eye surgery? People are interested in getting their sight back to 20/20. They want their vision restored and made whole.

2 Chronicles 20:20 - Take up your positions, stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the time in 2020 to contemplate, navigate and re-align my ambitions based on the realisation that life is indeed temporary and short. I pray that You would strengthen me with the necessary wisdom, skills, and knowledge to accomplish my vision. Teach me to discern good from evil that I may plan and do what is perfect and acceptable in Your sight. Having done all this, I take up my position and stand firm. I choose not to be afraid or discouraged as I look to You, Jesus! Amen.
