What does learning and development look like for you this October?

?? Unlock new skills and opportunities this Autumn ??

Autumn is well and truly upon us as we head into colder days and darker nights. This time of year we can often find ourselves our busiest at work, starting afresh after the Summer and setting new goals.

October is a transitional month, both in the weather and in the way we are feeling. It is as important as ever to prioritise nurturing yourself and your team. When times are busy, self-development often takes less of a priority and we forget the importance of seeking support and guidance when really, that is what we need most.

Alongside these challenges, October 2024 brings us some significant changes with new legislation regarding prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace (the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Bill). Starting in October 2024, the legislation will enhance current protections for workers against sexual harassment. This new legislation will require employers to take 'reasonable steps' to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. If a tribunal determines that an employer has failed in this duty, it will have the authority to increase compensation by up to 25%.

Don’t miss our online open course, ‘Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace’, suitable for those in HR and management, taking place on Wednesday 23rd October 2024, 10am - 12pm for only £140 + VAT per person. Get in touch to reserve your place now.

We also have National Work Life Week next week (7-10 October), Working Families ’ annual campaign to get both employers and employees talking about wellbeing at work and work-life balance. This campaign is the opportunity to not only continue to develop effective flexible working within your organisation, but to gather important insight into what flexible working means to your people from all walks of life and in all sorts of job roles.

Keep an eye out for the helpful resources we will be sharing during National Work Life Week, and into October, which will help you to celebrate flexible working and learn more about developing your staff when working flexibly. We also have some great learning opportunities coming up this month, which are detailed below. You can find out more about each event below, or get in touch to discuss in-organisation training opportunities for your teams.
