What does Jesus save us from?

Answer: Jesus saves us from ourself. Our human ego-self has separated itself from God, the source of all good, and so this personal sense of self or earthly self and it's erroneous beliefs is the underlying cause of the sufferings we experience. That is why Jesus tells us to "leave your nets" meaning our human ways of thinking. That is why Jesus tells us to "die daily" to our erroneous beliefs. That is why Jesus tells us that "I of my own self can do nothing" and that "the Father, the Presence, within can do all things". And so it is that we must replace our earthly way of thinking with our spiritual way of thinking where we will find freedom from the discords of this world and the freedom to live in the harmony of God's being.

Emmett Fox's Golden Key is a good place to start to develop, build, that spiritual consciousness. "Stop thinking about your self, your problems, and think about God instead". There must be a constant activity of Truth in consciousness because that which we hold in consciousness externalizes itself as our experience and that which we do not hold in consciousness does not externalize itself as our experience. Ponder the things, the nature, the word, the scripture, of God. Contemplate on the infinity, the allness, the omnipotence, the omnipresence, and the omniscient wisdom of God.

Now you will come into the realization that as you keep your mind stayed on God you will be kept in prefect peace, that the kingdom of God is within you and that if you seek first that inner kingdom goodness will follow, that the Presence is your shepherd and you will be led by the still waters and green pastures, that all that God is and all that God has is yours, that in the consciousness of the Presence there no problems, that in thy Presence is fullness of Life, and lastly that when the Spirit of God has entered into individual consciousness "the world is new".
