What does the future of HR Management, disrupted by Artificial Intelligence, look like?

It is undeniable that artificial intelligence, commonly abbreviated as AI, takes up virtually all traditional HR roles. The proliferation of AI in HR has even left many people, including high-ranking executives in leading companies, to speculate that AI may soon replace the entire HR department. While these speculations may be true, as of today, these assertions are far-fetched. This article discusses what the foreseeable future of HR management, disrupted by artificial intelligence, looks like.

According to a report published by Cmswire, about 50 percent of workers globally are using AI. The report also propounds that most workers using AI (65 percent) are optimistic and happy about working with intelligent programs. A similar report by Oracle indicates that most HR practitioners welcome the idea of AI in HR, and 64 percent of them claim they would trust advice from an AI system than from a human. These statistics suggest an inclination towards AI. Here is why HR teams prefer AI.

Talent acquisition

One of the key reasons many companies adopt AI in HR is to ease and improve talent recruitment and acquisition process. The advent of AI has successfully augmented candidate screening, scheduling interviews, and even keeping candidates engaged. Because of AI involvement in recruitment, companies' time on hiring has been reduced considerably. Besides, subconscious biases in hiring have been minimized by AI. As AI advances, it will become more involved in talent acquisition, automating more processes, and allowing HR teams to focus on other tasks that require human intelligence.

Onboarding

Another area AI is promising to have a positive disruption is the onboarding phase. Onboarding is one of the most critical phases of an employee's lifetime. This stage acclimates new hires to the company, helping them understand their roles and company philosophies. Professionals claim that employees' success partly depends on the experience they had during the onboarding phase. Today, AI is being used to train new employees during the onboarding phase and to familiarize them with company policies. As AI becomes more sophisticated, it will offer a more tailored onboarding experience and help new members meet colleagues and settle in the organization without needing human intervention.

HR administration

HR administration entails managing different aspects of employees while at the same time analyzing tones of data. Running these tasks in legacy systems is not only confusing but also time-consuming. Integrating AI in HR has automated some HR tasks, allowing people to focus on other areas. But, there is still room for improvement. Developments in AI will automate more processes, reducing the complexity of HR administration and increasing efficiency.

Learning and development

Progressive learning and development are beneficial for both individual employees and employers. L&D helps employees progress in their careers while the organization benefits better performance. The problem is that L&D programs are expensive, and due to volatility, most of them become obsolete too fast. The application of AI in learning and development has proved to be cost-effective. Besides, the technology regularly updates the programs with changing times. The future of AI in this sector is more promising than in any other HR area.

Talent management

Talent management involves retaining high-quality employees, improving their skills through coaching, and motivating them to remain in the organization. This process often involves analyzing various data points such as performance, availability of skills in the market, etc. AI is being used to analyze these data points, making it convenient for HR to manage talents.

HR is one of the sectors that are heavily reaping the benefits of AI. Most of the tasks in HR that were considered arduous or repetitive and time-consuming are increasingly becoming automated. Projections show that the advancement of AI will see more HR tasks handed to machines. While this migration of HR tasks to machines has been claimed to make the HR department redundant, Gartner says AI will create more jobs than it eliminates.
