What does that error code mean?

What does that error code mean?

It has happened to us all…you are up against a deadline, the boss is waiting, you need to print off that essential report or presentation and up comes the dreaded error code on the printer!

If you were thinking that this blog would be a run-down of all the error codes on all makes and models of printers and copiers and what they mean…sorry it’s not.

The fact is that there are hundreds and hundreds of error codes and they are unique to the various makes and models of printers…even our incredibly experienced and highly trained engineers don’t know them all.

What we are going to do is give you some basic things you can try yourself, without a degree in engineering…

Turn the printer off and on again

Commonly referred to as a ‘Power Cycle’ by those in the know (to make it sound more technical than it is) turning the printer off and on again can often solve a minor problem.

Restart your computer

It could be your computer that is causing the problem, so also try restarting your device.

Have you checked the WiFi?

Most printers these days communicate via WiFi rather than traditional cable networks. Ensure that the WiFi is working and that your printer and the device you are trying to print from are connected to the same network.

Is this your default printer?

Setting the printer you want to print to as you default printer may overcome a communication error…this can usually be done in the print dialog box.

Clear the print queue

If there are other instructions in the print queue, from you or others in your network, these can block your printing if there is a problem with them. So, clear all items in the queue and try your printing again.

More Technical Suggestions

Now we get into the realm of slightly more technical advice…you could try resetting the service that manages the print queue or removing and reinstalling the printer from your device…..or you could
