What does an Entrepreneur | CEO do? Week 2

First, thank you for all the positive feedback and encouragement to share this journal. Many ideas have come my way, and as this journey continues, I will do my best to incorporate the recommendations and questions that have started to come in.

Now, week 2.

Week two started with Patricia Maben , Mary Grondahl , and me in San Antonio, TX, for a four-day conference with College Presidents. We had lengthy meetings from sun up to sun down. It was a great four days; we learned, we helped others, we have follow-up steps to act on, and most of all, we were inspired because we saw opportunities for our clients to become more successful amid the challenges facing them.

A question that comes up is why am I, the CEO, and Patricia Maben , the President, attending industry events such as this. Most, if not all, of the other higher ed companies in attendance, sent sales and account leaders, had tabletop booths staffed with junior marketing support, and spent money on food and drinks. Not us.

Even though we are now one the largest and most successful enrollment marketing companies in higher ed, Patricia Maben and I remain committed to being practitioners. We are committed to remaining industry, business, and data experts. We seek to bring a different perspective to higher ed, and we do that by spending many hours with industry leaders in and outside of higher ed.

3E client results have outpaced industry benchmarks for six years. We believe part of the reason for this is our commitment to being in the trenches ourselves. Additionally, we thoroughly enjoy the work, the people we work with, and seeing our clients win.

It's January 2025 - week 2. So what are we doing?

  • Attended CIC Presidents Institute conference - 4 days.
  • Reviewed client results and put into motion solution enhancements based on data insights.

We call these internally "performance plays" designed to accelerate results where the data suggests new investments will yield strong results.

  • Reviewed client campaign delivery status.
  • Advanced 2025 compensation plans.
  • Finalized workshop leaders/speakers for the Institute for Higher Education

https://institutehe.org/ June 16-19 in CO

  • Held deep dive sessions into new product development.
  • Advanced 2025 plan and preparing for company rollout in early February.
  • Holding one-on-one meetings with clients and Difference Makers (3E employees).

There you go, some of the highlights of what we have going on this week.
