In the last five years, humanity has been facing challenges that were difficult to foresee. COVID, the war in Ukraine and its collateral effects... All together have completely changed our awareness about Energy Security, Energy Equity (affordability and accessibility), and Environmental Sustainability.
Historically, in the design of energy transition strategies, countries used to focus only on sustainability, but time and the aforementioned disruptions have clearly shown that it is not the right approach.
In the new scenario, the design of the appropiate Energy Transition Strategy requires the consideration of three often competing concepts: Energy Security, Energy Equity and Environmental Sustainability, avoiding to exclusively focus on Climate Protection.
