What does effective consumer education in the cannabis industry look like?
As a former budtender (customer service representative) I can tell you first hand that the vast majority of consumers have an intolerance to educational information unless it stands to create immediate value for them. That's not to say that there are not consumers out there who are interested in learning the complex pharmacology & pharmacodynamics of the cannabis plant (of which I myself am one), however, from experience, the overwhelming majority of consumers are looking to purchase their product and get out the door and on with their day.
It is my own analysis that the single variable that is holding back the cannabis industry the most is the lack of consumer education. Until such point, as consumers understand how to correctly consume cannabis products whether this is an edible, flower or vape they will find it increasingly difficult to incorporate the consumption of the product into their routine in a meaningful way. This is by no means an easy problem to solve and undoing the years of prohibition and the spreading of misinformation will require a collective effort from the industry.
If we don't move forward together, then we don't move forward at all.
