What does Dolly say? Make the most of every day.
"When I wake up, I expect things to be good. If they're not, then I try to set about trying to make them as good as I can 'cause I know I'm gonna have to live that day anyway. So why not try to make the most of it if you can?"
I am naturally an optimist. I’m also pragmatic and realistic, but at my very core I’m an optimist. And I’ll admit to trying to convert pessimists to my way of thinking, much to their dismay. I look for the good in every experience. I look for the good in every person. I BELIEVE the good in every person.? Until they prove me wrong. Twice.
I also know that when I’m acting against my belief that the universe generally serves up good things, there’s sand in my gears. It takes me longer to get things done. It takes more energy to connect to others. My conversations are not as smooth and easy. And everything – everything seems to annoy me. And to add insult to injury, the more sand there is, the more sand there is. It seems to expand at an exponential rate, and I’m left with more sand than gears.
But when I remember that the universe does in fact conspire on my behalf, well those are the good days. My good energy grows more good emergy. The endorphins I get from positive interactions make the day even better. My stress and cortisol levels decrease because I’m not fighting against everything. Instead I’m just going about the business of making every day as good as it can be, starting from the belief that it’s actually pretty darn good to start with.?
Be like Dolly. Remember that every has a whole lot of good in it, and it won’t take much effort to make it even better.
