At BiTQ we say we Transform Business Data into Intelligent Data. But what does that actually mean?
Everyone knows the collaborative existence between Data Analytics and Business Intelligence right? Wrong! While there is a definite overlap between the two, if you are serious about transforming your business data into intelligent data, then you need to know the difference.
I have spent a number of years talking about, studying about, and delivering on business growth and related topics. Both for corporates and working in corporates. In January 2017 I started consulting to my now business partner on a growth strategy he was looking into. It was during this time I truly began to understand the difference between business intelligence and data analytics. Let’s hope my education over the past 12 months helps your journey to succeed as much as it has helped my journey.
So getting back to what I have learnt!
Business intelligence and data analytics are completely different processes, yet they complement each other exceptionally well. As a matter of fact, one should not be without the other and here’s why!
In such a complex fast-paced world, business intelligence is the essential amalgamation and interpretation of disparate data needed to help organisations make smarter business decisions. Business intelligence is a combination of strategy and tools used to support a data-driven decision making organisation, and business intelligence incorporates data analytics into this process.
Data analytics is the science that uses data to ask questions so that we can understand the past and predict the future. Data analytics is how you attain business intelligence. While you are analysing data you are asking questions about that data that leads you to a point where you can make smarter decisions; or business intelligent decisions as we prefer to say.
In summary, we could change our slogan from “Transforming Business Data into Intelligent Data” to “Using analytics to transform dysfunctional disparate data into intelligent business data” but that is way too time-consuming to say.
So if you need help with setting your organisation up to use the data to your benefit and maximise all current and future opportunities, then visit BiTQ.com.au or e-mail me at [email protected]

7 年I could not agree more. Every business needs to understand its KPI and dependencies. It is impossible to forecast, manage teams or plan strategically without good reliable data. Often business owners operate on a “think we know” basis but without hard facts and detailed understanding of business drivers success will be thwarted.
