I feel like stopping right there. I mean, who can say it better than Brene’? And yes, I feel like I’m on a first-name basis with her. :)?
The quote above is from her incredible book, Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead. Reading that book helped me to understand what was missing for me. As I worked through my own ability to show up with vulnerability, I realized that what I was missing was connection to others; that the best times of my life were when I had a supportive community around me, and that community was always what I was searching for in times of struggle. At the same time, I was afraid to ask for help, to show up imperfectly, and I was stuck then in the middle. I was suffering.
This is why The Gather Community means so much to me. Not only do I get to be around amazing people, to support them to be their best and to grow their own communities around them, but I also get to completely be myself, to have a purpose, to have meaningful work and activities. I often talk about throwing pebbles and the ripples in the pond. We are the pebbles. The ripples in the pond are the effect we have on the world around us, and by being in community, the ripples overlap and the pond is a vibrant hub of activity. So beautiful.
When you are feeling sad, lonely, or stuck, remember the quote above. You are DESIGNED to be connected to others. None of us can be at our best by ourselves. And if you need support, please reach out to me or to The Gather Community - every single woman here is ready to support you.
