After more than three years of foreign entry lockdown due to the Covid 19 pandemic, Dr. George Wang made his first trip to China, meeting his family, team colleagues, friends, and contract manufacturing factory partners. “Everybody is so thrilled to see me, telling me all the stories of what happened in the last three years.” Said Dr. Wang. “I am deeply moved by all the warm and welcoming people everywhere. It feels like cities are all totally upgraded, nice, clean, and super modern. All street businesses are buzzing with crowds moving around from the whole country. Owners of restaurants are welcoming huge crowds of guests.?They set up fireworks nightly, and every night in tourist places is like a non-stop festival celebrating this major surge of business re-bound for months now. You will need to expect traffic jams like before the pandemic”.

Dr. Wang also complains “The only problem is everything you do is digital from the moment you get off your plane. If you are not a cell phone veteran, you will be in deep trouble for every move you take in China. Keep a good smartphone with you with WeChat and Alipay apps. Otherwise, you would really need a local guy to be with you to connect you with the world over there.”

On the contract manufacturing business side, China's contract manufacturing industry has demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability in the aftermath of the pandemic lockdown. Despite facing significant challenges in the early stages of the pandemic, China's manufacturing sector quickly recovered and adapted to the new normal.

As global demand for essential goods increased during the pandemic, China's contract manufacturing industry rose to the challenge, quickly ramping up production of medical equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other critical supplies. This was aided by the Chinese government's proactive measures, such as subsidies for manufacturers and tax breaks, to boost production.

Furthermore, China's strong manufacturing ecosystem and extensive supply chain networks allowed manufacturers to quickly adjust their operations to accommodate changes in demand and supply chain disruptions caused by the pandemic.

As a result, China's contract manufacturing industry has emerged from the pandemic lockdown with a renewed focus on innovation, sustainability, and digitalization. With a skilled workforce, advanced technology, and a dynamic business environment, China remains a competitive destination for contract manufacturing.
