A little more than six weeks ago, OpenAI released ChatGPT, a chatbot that can communicate with ‘almost’ human level expertise.
As with any new technology – there are supporters and critics. Some going to the extent of calling it an ‘information warfare’ tool. Others feel it is the ‘iPhone moment for AI’. Personally, I’m excited to see its possible applications for the corporate world.?
But first, what is this breakthrough technology that everyone can’t stop talking about?
ChatGPT is a large language model trained by OpenAI that can generate human-like text. It can be used for a variety of natural language processing tasks, such as language translation, conversation, and text summarization. It was trained on a dataset of millions of web pages and books, and can generate text in a variety of styles and formats.?

Best part - it can be integrated with existing softwares, platforms and systems to add a layer of “conversation and language” to the user experience.?
How can ChatGPT be used in Human Resources or Talent Management??
Honestly, sky’s the limit, but here are some practical ideas –?
The future is here - machines can now literally do tasks that could only be done by highly trained humans. The use cases and possibilities are endless, as it solves the “expertise” or “knowledge work” problem at scale.?
After reading this article, I hope we start experimenting with AI (for free) and engage in practical discussions about what it means: for your organization, industry, and the entire world. Integrating AI into our workplace — and our lives — will bring immense changes. Right now, we’re just scratching the surface.?

1 年Hi Sumer Datta , great points and thanks for bringing this up. As someone who has only been recently introduced to ChatGPT, I have tried out several searches/queries and found the engine does a good job of aggregating information from various sources in a neat way. But if you were to layer your search with additional contexts like - share a Management Trainee JD specifically for a particular Function in a particular Industry in say, India or Ghana, you would get the same "generic" response. I think when we ask folks questions in Interviews, we probe for context, when we get generic replies. Now there is so much of tacit information in an employee's heads, it is not all going to be published somewhere for ChatGPT to be trained on - which is when the engine will become more human. And BTW, I asked ChatGPT to crack an Indian joke and it rustled up a "Sardarji" joke linking "Sardars" with "Liquor". I am sure this should leave an HR person red-faced, perhaps because we don't get these jokes now. Thanks.

1 年Good Article, Sumer. In addition to what you have already covered, my few additions- ·????It clearly takes the load off HR communication – drafts can get more engaging and language more creative. ·????Helps reduce people costs – Before hiring, HR can validate with functions if they really need humans or AI can be enough to complete a task – some roles like copywriters, market research professionals and communication people & channels can be humanoid(ed). ·????My friends and colleagues who regularly write on LinkedIn, will find this tool particularly helpful. Even comments can be ChatGPT(ed). ? With ChatGPT, technology moves towards aping humans and that is scary in some part. Our social structure is based on our art, literature and culture and AI aping may dilute the unique identity built by professionals / organizations. The other challenge is that of human right-brain being dumbed further. Already, we are accustomed to templatized methods, and ChatGPT threatens to take away whatever little creativity is left in our jobs. ? When you log onto ChatGPT these days, you are greeted with ‘ChatGPT is at capacity right now’, While they build their capacity, I am thankful to enjoy some last days of creative freedom.

1 年Indeed a breakthrough. However a question still needs tobe answered...what next? It almost reminds me of the irobot movie. Are we going to move away from human intervention and personal touch. I am a firm believer of technology and value it brings on the table being a technologist. Chatgpt is definately a step forward securing perfection. Let's all not get carried away in jumping to conclusion on advantages but also explore the other facet this brings on the table along with it. The next step as all new start ups this product, which is currently free, will start getting charged. We are all training it to perfection as that is what ai is all about, learning every second of the day from experiences. Cheers to the future.
