What does charity mean to The Summit?
The Summit Executive Chauffeurs is a company run by human beings, with the comfort and convenience of other human beings at the heart of everything we do. We, like many other people simply do what we can to support charities locally and overseas.
And it’s true what Aristotle said, ‘The unfortunate need people who will be kind to them; the prosperous need people to be kind too’. I believe charity not only means giving money to a good cause, but that charity means to have a giving demeanour, one that can never run out (like money often does). This way, we can be charitable throughout our lives, regardless of our economic situation.
We do, however have favourite charitable causes…
Be Free Young Carers
This Oxfordshire charity supports young people, some as young as eight years old, who find themselves in the position of carer for another person, most commonly a parent or other family member.
They are devoted to the wellbeing of young carers and work tirelessly to improve their lives, offering respite, emotional support and social opportunities.
Be Free YC tell us that there are 800,000 young carers in the UK, equivalent of 2 children in every classroom…
That’s why, when they have their annual awards night, I am honoured to give these young people a moment of glamour and luxury, as I escort them in my chauffeur’s regalia from home to the awards.
SeeSaw
领英推荐
Another wonderful charity supporting children at a time of great need. SeeSaw offers grief support for young people and their families in Oxfordshire, when somebody close to them is terminally ill.
Each year over 500 bereaved children receive free care and support through SeeSaw and so we give what we can, showing support to their numerous fundraising events that friends and business connections get involved in.
Sobell House Hospice
Sobell House has 18 beds at their hospice facility but can also provide the palliative care needed at home or in hospital.
We have personal experience with this wonderful charity from many years ago, and so we continue to quietly offer support – although I have seen the Ox Trail which looks very interesting!
How you can help, without spending money or time…
The easiest way to support charities is to follow their social pages and share their messages! Many also have charity shops which you can donate to or buy from.
I know it can be hard to draw a line when it comes to charity, there are so many that need so much and I’m sure like me, you have friends that do epic challenges you simply can’t ignore!
I wish you all the best in this season of giving and encourage you to have a giving demeanour too, because we all need a little help sometimes.

1 年Be Free Young Carers we have favourites too and you are ours The Summit Executive Chauffeurs ??. Thanks for all your support and encouragement. Just a bit of recognition goes a long way for us as a small charity. We will never forget the support you gave our young carers and how you made them feel like film stars at BBC Radio Oxford award ceremony. It was a hugely memorable evening and one they will remember for years to come.
Relationship Fundraising Manager at Sobell House Hospice
1 年Well said The Summit Executive Chauffeurs… real relationships are built on trust, kindness, empathy, warmth, compassion… they are not transactional. Giving time is the greatest gift of all, time for a chat, time to do a good deed, time to share expertise and knowledge and yes, maybe in the end, it is time to support through volunteering or fundraising.
