What does art mean to you?

What does art mean to you?

Embark on a journey to explore art.

I am writing this note as the Editor-in-Chief of the recently launched ArtExplored, and as a mother to a child who expresses feelings through art. Anxiety and fear are conveyed through a palette of greys and blacks while happiness and excitement are reflected through bright yellow and orange. I realised the power of yellow on one’s morale only when I noticed it in my child’s doodles and drawings.??

You may find the reference to my child’s creative expression odd here, but my point is that art steps into our lives at an early age. However, only few choose to hone it as a skill, deeply appreciate it, or leverage its power for impactful storytelling.?

Each one of us perceives art differently. For me art is an emotion. Art is a message. It is our past, present, and perhaps a glimpse into our future. The beauty and balance portrayed through art is something that I believe must be shared with everyone.?

But it is often only those who master art who are truly able to read between the lines, comprehend the compositions, soak up the emotion, unravel the light, and interpret the narrative of an artwork.??

At ArtExplored, we hope to transform this notion and make fine art inclusive. French impressionist artist Edgar Degas once said “Art is not what you see. It is what you make others see.”?ArtExplored’s mission is to offer resources to help you to understand what the artist is trying to make you see; to connect to art and its market.

ArtExplored is a one-of-a-kind discovery hub for the art curious. It is not a mainstream trade media or a direct competitor to the existing major art media outlets.??

So, what does Art Explored offer???

Well, we will take you on a journey to explore the lives, works, influences, and legacies of the finest painters in art history.

While producing content for ArtExplored, we have engaged in thought-provoking conversations with leading art experts, authors, academics, and historians who have shared little-known facts and anecdotes about renowned artists including Van Gogh, Georgia O'Keefe, and Modigliani, that we now look forward to sharing with you.??

We will offer you stories that focus on more than just the artists’ professional journey but also who they were as individuals. We will shed light on their social circles, the places they lived, and the different artistic and socio-cultural factors that influenced their practice.??

Through original articles, educative video explainers, exclusive art market reports, and audio casts, we will help you to decrypt art works, debunk myths, and offer unique perspective into the art market through conversations and insights with leading experts.??

Our team of journalists and contributors on different continents will scout out original stories and perspectives. And as we prepare to expand our education section later this year, we look forward to working closely with museums to provide exclusive content from their exhibitions and highlight their art research.

Like Brazilian artist Romero Britto, I too believe that “Art is too important not to be shared.”?

On behalf of the entire ArtExplored team, I invite you aboard, and wish you a delightful exploration!

Brillant piece Nandita Vij Tandan. For me art is also politics. Because I believe each artist delivers a vision of the world.
