What does 35% really mean?
The picture with this article shows the first forecourt installation of T-Flex coin dispensers in the UK, which went in last week. Including retail and banking, there are over 300,000 T-Flex Units installed worldwide. Many retailers will talk about using a lower percentage of cash, but what really matters is: How many cash transactions are you doing and how many in peak periods? The store in the picture is around 35% cash, but does 800 cash transactions in a busy 3 hour period, and about 1500 on a typical day. This is a 24 hour operation. The T-Flex saves an average of over 5 seconds on each of those transactions which reduces queuing, and keeps customers happy. It means you don't always need to open an extra register.Apart from speed, every customer gets 100% accurate change, and every customer receives their change. At the end of shift, the dispenser communicates to the POS system how much it has left in it, so balancing is very fast and accurate. This technology is extremely reliable, low cost, has a small footprint, and will pay for itself in a very short time due to the benefits it offers. Every request for quotation I've seen in the past year from c-store groups in the UK mentions the need to manage cash, and in particular coins, more efficiently. Very few other automated cash payment solutions will speed up service as well as giving accuracy. This has been recognised by brands such as McDonald's and Subway, which globally approve the T-Flex dispenser for use in their stores.
