What do you do with your nail polish?
Yesterday, I met a friend, and we had an excellent chat about careers, movies, well-being, and our favourite subject, sustainability. During our chat, I mentioned to her that it had been years since the last time I painted my nails. I have embraced the natural look, and initially, I didn't do it for sustainable practices, but now it is.
I told her I still have lots of nail polish on my bathroom shelf and don't know how to dispose of them correctly and sustainably. She said she hadn't even thought about it, which made me realize how many others like us might not have considered this issue.
Hence, today, curious about how to dispose of them, I came across this excellent article on the Bare Hand website, which gives us some ideas.
It's crucial to remember that nail polish, like any other paint, is a hazardous substance. Simply throwing it in the trash can lead to it ending up in a landfill, which harms the environment and our health. These products contain chemicals that can be detrimental if not disposed of correctly. They should be taken to your local hazardous waste disposal service.
My intention is not to advocate for everyone to go natural but rather to urge caution in our choices and responsibility in our actions, particularly when it comes to disposing of products like nail polish. If each of us takes a small step towards responsible disposal, we can collectively make a significant impact.
Thanks for your interest and participation in this important topic. Your input into our discussion is truly inspiring!
