My only wish for Christmas is:
To be able to go to the bathroom at night without having to wake up my mum…
These words came out of the mouth, not of a toddler, but a young woman 30 years old….
Why did she wish this?
Christine suffered from progressive muscular dystrophy, which made it very difficult for her to make any movement.
At some point event impossible…
Simple things like ?going to the bathroom“
Christine was a patient of mine during the times I was a dentist at my dental practice in Bavaria, Germany.
As you can imagine…her answer got me speechless…
Taken aback…
Sad…
And it invited me to look at my own life with different eyes…
How many things did I take for granted…
How many things do you take for granted?!
