What do you do when you have nothing to do?
It might seem like this picture has nothing to do with what I have written below. Think about it.

What do you do when you have nothing to do?

I know this question resonates with a lot of people. I used to face this problem even before the lockdown.

It is a tough question.

What is nothing to do? This could become a deep philosophical question. I am not getting there.

I am reframing the 'nothing to do' a bit. What do I do during the gaps between activities? When it seems that I have nothing to do?

I must reframe 'nothing to do' once again . It is perhaps 'visibly nothing to do'.

I read. I have a whole lot of books that I have bought over the years but have not read yet. I have started reading some books. A few pages every day. I would like spend more time reading. I must also look at books from my father's collection.

Today I experimented with something new. Doing a short video book review. Posted one a few minutes ago on LinkedIn. If I do one book a day, it should keep me busy for almost a year.

I write notes to myself. Blogs. Articles on LinkedIn. I have started writing a fiction.Yes, I do spend couple of hours a day meditating and in prayers. A webinar or two on some days. Either I attend them. Or be one of the speakers.

There are of course phone calls. WhatsApp messages. They don't consume too much time. Spend sometime talking to our grand children some days.

There is one realisation that struck me two days ago. That I am not restless when there is nothing to do. Is that a thing to worry about or be happy about? I don't know.

I am beginning to feel happy about it.

You are free from FOMO Sridhar. How does one cultivate that art? Do we have to wait post retirement or take up farming. With torrent of info on social media platforms the decision to focus on some and the let go of the rest is a discipline that needs rigorous cultivation. I am dearly failing at it.

Sridhar, looks like you are doing a lot! May not be more of what you did in the past during the Corporate phase of your life’s journey ! You are reinventing yourself. ??
