What do you want?
What do you want?
Many business owners run their businesses without really thinking about what they personally want to get out of them in the long run. Having a personal goal that you want your business to accomplish will help you with planning and with deciding which paths to go down. Here are some common goals:
- Create an empire
- Have a comfortable lifestyle that supports you, your family and your staff well
- Prepare for retirement
- Sell the business
- Grow the business to a point where it is self-sufficient and does not need you to operate
- Stop working on the day to day grind and start getting strategic.
- Reduce your hours and/or have good long holidays.
Once you have defined your goals, it makes it easier for you to decide which direction you should be taking the business in. If you need help, there are plenty of good business coaches and mentors in North Canterbury you can talk with.

9 年Well put Miles - Once a business owner is in business, the difficulties and challenges that come along with it can often take focus away from the reasons for being in business to start with. Important to keep your GOALS in focus. A good analogy is a pilot - when travelling to a destination is off-course around 90% of the time as winds blow him off-course. Without the map and the end GOAL in mind he would not achieve his destination.
